Old Balmain Cemetery Reconstruction

Lorraine and June set out to reconstruct the original index for Balmain Cemetery which had quite a few errors in it.  

In the process names were checked on the NSW birth, death and marriage indexes for clarification. Finally browsing death and funeral notices in the Sydney Morning Herald and any other references they could find.

They appealed to members via our Journal and Newsletter for information from death certificates for family information they might have, with a great deal of success.

 It seemed a shame to have gone through all this research and not include it in the finished product, so what set out to be a fairly simply project has grown like Topsy but should end up a very useful  research tool for anyone with ancestors buried at Balmain.

Lorraine and June hope to have the finished product available on CD in 2011
