ANY DAY TRIPPERS
Bus, Train & Car Pool trips organised by Marlene Davidson
2008
REPORT - TOUR OF STATE LIBRARY ON TUESDAY 17th JUNE
Twelve trippers with tour guide Lyn Williams, explored the State
Library computers, catalogues, newspaper files and the fascinating stacks
underground. The Shakespeare room brought memories of school days
and early history. Then librarian David Berry highlighted the resources
of the Family History section taking trippers on a shelf by shelf tour
and demonstrated the use of the databases now online. Very quickly all dispersed
and research began.
If you missed this trip, try the online database search (just Google NSW State
Library) and read their Getting Started information research guides. Topics
included in the Getting Started series are births, deaths and marriages, convict,
church records, cemetery records, shipping movements, NSW assisted and Unassisted passenger
lists, manuscripts research, picture research, Australian Joint Copying Project and
Electoral Rolls.
Copies of these have been placed in our our reference library in
the State Library folder.
