National Family History Month August 2017

Royal Australian Historical Society will host this Seminar at Central Coast Family History Society.
It will be a one day Seminar beginning at 9.00 am and concluding at 3.30pm. Cost is $20 which includes morning tea and light lunch. As this day is part of our Precinct Open day there will be a 90 minute break for lunch to allow you to seek out information from our Precinct partners such as Central Coast Potters, Spinners and Weavers and The Makers Studio. There will be handmade items to purchase on the day.
The program of topics are:
Session 1: Carol Liston
Convicts from another angle.
One of the highlights will be a discussion about the convict petitions that are held at The National Archives UK.
Session 2: Christine Yeats
Soldier Settlement in NSW.
This session will look at the history behind the creation of the scheme and will consider its effectiveness. There will be a number of case studies.
Carol Liston and Christine Yeats
This session will look at the RAHS "Governors'Ladies" Project; making the best use of Trove (Government Gazettes and Newspapers) and the Biographical Database of Australia.
